Our Story

Grove Station is a Butcher Shop, Bakery, Market and Event Space all co-located in a historic building in downtown Tallassee, Alabama. Our property was originally home to the large Sistrunk Plantation, which sat high upon a bluff overlooking the Tallapoosa River. Historic write ups of this property describe the mansion as being surrounded by old groves of magnolias and pines and it was elevated high above a main railroad station that transported both goods and people in and out of the town. In selecting our name, we wanted to honor the history of the bluff that our building sits on today, but we also wanted our name to represent who we are and what we do.  Using the word “Grove” made a lot of sense for us as it not only gives a nod to what once was onsite, but we believe the word is symbolic of freshness, which is something we believe in deeply. The old railroad bridge that connected the Tallassee Mill to the Train Station that sat below Sistrunk Plantation is still intact and can be seen every time you cross the Fitzpatrick Bridge connecting the West and East sides of Tallassee. The word “Station” not only helped us clearly define the many concepts (or stations) we offer in our one stop shop; it also reminds us that our town was an important farming community as well as trading post in the southeastern part of the United States.

Grove Station’s team loves serving food as much as preparing it. Corrie Sid is the Owner and spends her time cultivating must attend culinary experiences, curating merchandise that will ensure your dinner parties are second to none and personally selecting all wine and craft beer in house. We are dedicated to creating custom menus for all events, sourcing all food for every offering, and ensuring all of your questions about food are answered. Together our dynamic team is bringing you some amazing items, teaching you how to prepare them, and offering you incredible dining experiences.

Come in and engage in a conversation about food, experiment with cooking ideas we discuss, and experience first-hand how food brings people together.

Our Owner

Corrie Sid

Corrie Sid was born and raised in Tallassee, Alabama. She attended Auburn University and moved to the Bay Area right after graduation. While in California, she received her Master’s Degree, worked as a social worker for two years, then transitioned to a career in high tech. For twenty years Corrie managed training organizations globally and was lucky enough to travel to some amazing places.

She has a daughter who will be a senior at the University of Colorado and a son who will be a sophomore at the University of San Francisco. After raising these amazing young adults and living in California for 30 years, she moved back home to the place where almost everyone in her family still lives.

While living in California Corrie also owned a boutique hotel and became enamored with the world of hospitality. She wanted to open another hospitality type of business in Alabama and that is how Grove Station was born. Corrie is the owner and your hostess who is more than happy to help you find products you didn’t know you needed, ensure your stomach (and glass) is always full and delight you with the type of service from days gone by. Please come by for a visit and explore all that Grove Station has to offer.
